We lay the bricks or stones “dry” on a gravel or concrete base with only a thin joint-line filled with sand, never mortar. Bricks remain in place as a result of the interlocking of the pavers shape, pressure and friction of being placed together in a tight configuration. Unlike the cracks that develop in other pavement surfaces, these “cracks” are a deliberate part of the design of a brick paver surface. In fact, a correctly installed paver system offers the most durable of all hardscaping surfaces. Pavers never go out of style and afford many creative opportunities.
